Asia Cup 2025 Final Updates: With an undefeated half-century, Tilak Varma led India to victory over Pakistan. Following the presentation ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistani leader of the ACC, was accused by India of stealing the trophy with him. In a chat captain Suryakumar Yadav said that “Trophy leke bhaag gaye woh (they ran away with the trophy).”
After India defeated Pakistan by five wickets on Sunday to win the Asia Cup final, there was still a lot of drama. At the presentation ceremony, the Indian team declined to accept their individual medals or the winner’s trophy because Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Asia Cricket Council (ACC), the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and the nation’s interior minister, insisted upon presenting the trophy to the victorious side. After India scored the winning runs, there was an hour-long wait for the presentation ceremony to begin because the Indians refused to take the trophy.
More controversy arose when BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia claimed Naqvi took the trophy instead of giving it to the Indians.
Since no resolution was found at the ACC meeting, the decision regarding when the medals and Asia Cup trophy will be given to India has been postponed. Naqvi claimed he was treated disrespectfully and was unaware that the Indian team had decided not to receive prize from him. According to sources he said that the BCCI never sent him an email regarding it.
However, Rajeev Shukla, who attended the meeting on behalf of the BCCI, argued that the trophy belongs to the ACC and should be given to the actual winner, not any one person. The decision has been adjourned to another meeting as there was no acceptable solution.
According to internal meeting data, Naqvi even went so far as to claim that everything that happened late Sunday night made him look like a cartoon character.
The Indian team was prepared to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Khalid Al Zarooni, the vice chairman of the Emirates Board, but Naqvi was determined about sticking to his plan to give the trophy to winning team.
Former India cricketer Syed Kirmani, who won the World Cup, has criticized modern players for acting “rudely and arrogantly” on the field. Kirmani claimed that the lack of the camaraderie they had shared during their playing days was missing and for him the “current era of cricket is absolutely depressing.”
He claimed that friends from all around the world were messaging him and asking, “on the field Indian team ko kya ho gaya hai? Is politics really so difficult? (How has the Indian squad fared? What type of politics being played out on the field? He claimed that friends from all around the world were messaging him and asking, “on the field Indian team ko kya ho gaya hai?
