Jasprit Bumrah is close to becoming the fastest Indian bowler to take 200 wickets in Test cricket. The fast bowler has a chance to achieve this feat in the Boxing Day Test against Australia starting on December 26 at Melbourne.
If he can do this then he will surpass the record of former Indian legend player Kapil Dev. Kapil had set this record (200 test wickets in 50 Tests) in a match against West Indies at Port of Spain in March 1983. Bumrah is now 6 wickets away from the record, Bumrah currently has 194 wickets in 43 Tests at an economy rate of 2.75, including six four-wicket hauls and 12 five-wicket hauls.
If the 31-year-old takes six wickets in the Melbourne Test, he will become the joint second-fastest Indian to take 200 wickets along with Ravindra Jadeja. Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the fastest, having achieved the feat in 37 Tests in September 2016.

Bumrah won the Player of the Match award in the Perth Test after taking eight wickets, including a five-wicket haul. His magnificent performance helped India win the match by 295 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Bumrah also gave it all in the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, when he took six wickets in the first innings to restrict Australia from a huge total help India level the match. With the series now tied at 1-1 India will be hoping to maintain the momentum in Melbourne.
