Indian batsman Nitish created history at Australia’s historical ground, Melbourne, when he scored the first century of his career. He was well supported in this amazing performance by Washington Sundar, who supported him well along with scoring his half century.
Nitish, who came to bat at number eight, has become the first Indian to score a century at this position in Australia. The previous highest score by an Indian batting at number eight in Australia was by Anil Kumble, who scored 87 runs in Adelaide in 2008.
The 21-year-old achieved the feat in 171 balls with the help of nine fours and one six.
Nitish became the third youngest Indian cricketer to make his maiden hundred in test cricket in Australia.
When he scored this century, all the spectators in the stadium became emotional, whether they were Australian supporters or Indian supporters.
Due to rain, the umpires finally declared the day’s play over; by then, India’s score was 358/9. Nitish Reddy was unbeaten on 105 runs, and Mohammad Siraj was unbeaten on 2 runs at the crease, from where the fourth day’s play will start tomorrow morning.
