Just before the start of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand, Team India has suffered a major setback. Star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the entire ODI series.
On Saturday evening, during a practice session, Pant was batting against a throwdown specialist when a ball struck him on the right side of his abdomen. Pant immediately fell to the ground in pain. The team’s support staff and medical team then escorted him off the field. Medical examinations revealed that Pant had sustained a strain to his right rib cage, requiring rest.
The first ODI between India and New Zealand will be played at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. This will be the first men’s international match to be held at this venue. The second ODI will be played in Rajkot on January 14th, and the third ODI will be played in Indore on January 18th.
