Sanju Samson moves up 25 places in T20 International batsman rankings after scoring 97 nut out against West Indies

Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper and batter for India scored 97 runs off 50 balls for India in the 3rd and final Super 8s match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The match took place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in which Samson scored 97 run and remained nut out with 12 boundaries and 4 big sixes against the West Indies while chasing a total of 196 runs for Suryakumar Yadav’s team.

As this was a do-or-die match for India, Samson’s phenomenal innings against West Indies made him jump 25 places in the ICC T20I batting rankings the next day. The 31-year-old cricketer from Kerala who received the Man of the Match Award in India’s 5-wicket victory has now 549 rating points in T20 International cricket.

Besides Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma have also climbed a position each, with Kishan now at No. 4 and Varma at No. 6 among T20I batters. At the same time, India captain Suryakumar Yadav has now moved down a spot to 7th position.

Despite scoring only 10 runs in the Super 8s match against the West Indies, Abhishek Sharma has managed to keep hold of the No. 1 rank. With 848 rating points, Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is at No. 2 in the ICC T20I batters rankings.
