The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its most exciting Super Eight stage, which is the real climax of the tournament. After all the excitement with twists and turns of the group stage, the real battle is about to begin, where every match will be almost like a knockout.

The best eight teams in the world will face each other, where it will be decided who advances to the semi-finals and whose dreams will be shattered. The biggest disaster of this tournament was Australia’s exit from the group stage, as the Australian team was considered one of the favourites for the trophy.
The second disappointment of the tournament was that Afghanistan, considered Asia’s second-best team, was also eliminated in the group stage. Meanwhile, teams like Zimbabwe and Pakistan surprised everyone by reaching the Super Eight.
So, a total of 12 teams have been eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026. Eight teams have officially qualified for the Super Eight contest.
A total of 12 matches will be played in the Super Eight, and after the Super Eight, the four teams that reach the semi-final will be decided. After that, the most-awaited final match will be played on 8th March.
So let us first take a look at all those teams that have reached the Super Eight and which team is in which group of the Super Eight contest.
So from Group A, two teams from India and Pakistan have qualified. While three teams, USA, Netherlands and Namibia are now out of the T20 World Cup 2026. From Group B, the top two teams, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, have qualified, while three teams, Ireland, Australia, and Oman, have not qualified for the Super Eight.
The top two teams from Group C, West Indies and England, have qualified for the Super Eight stage, while the other three teams, Scotland, Italy, and Nepal, are eliminated from the contest. The top two teams from Group D, South Africa and New Zealand, have qualified for the Super Eight, while Afghanistan, UAE, and Canada are the three teams that were eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026. So, only eight teams have reached the Super Eight contest of the T20 World Cup 2026.
Now, all these eight teams have been divided into two separate groups. Group One of Super Eight includes West Indies, India, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Group Two of Super Eight includes England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
What’s special about Group One? All of them will play their matches in India. Group Two of Super Eight includes England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand. The special thing about Group Two is that all the teams will play their matches in Sri Lanka during the Super Eight. There won’t be a single match in India.
Now both groups have four teams, each team will play one match against the remaining three teams in their group in the Super Eight. So all eight teams will play three matches each in the Super Eight, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

The first semi-final match will be played on March 4th at 7:00 pm. At Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata or R Paramaresh Stadium in Colombo. If the Pakistan team reaches the semi-finals, this semi-final match will be played in Sri Lanka, not in India. If Pakistan does not reach the semi-finals, then this semi-final match will be played in India. The second semi-final match will be played on March 5th, 2026, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, starting at 7:00 pm. After this, the final match will be played on March 8th, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad or the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 7:00 pm.
